    Director of Engineering / Director of Software Engineering / Director of Domain Engineering / Domain Lead - Merchandising Platform

    Hybrid working in Dusseldorf (ideally 3 days per week office-based). Initially 4 months full-time contract and possible to become permanent afterwards, start ASAP. Open for discussion on the rate/monthly salary depending on experience.

    Our client is: World Famous Retailer €3 Billion+ in revenue, over 1000 stores globally, and 30,000+ employees. Our client is looking for a Director of Engineering to build a new domain engineering team You'll spearhead a transformation within their tech team, igniting innovation and setting the bar for technical prowess. You will guide a team of engineers, solution architects, and managers, shaping the future of consumer experience through technology. Providing hands-on technical expertise in architecting high-traffic systems but also a forward-thinking approach to nurture a thriving, inclusive, and results-oriented engineering culture.

    1. Mentor and empower business analysts, domain engineers, and developers;
    2. Lead the development of sophisticated products that streamline the merchandizing lifecycle;
    3. Drive the modernization of the technology stack while ensuring seamless value delivery to consumers;
    4. Establish system architecture best practices;
    5. Leadership: strategic planning and setting overarching engineering goals;
    6. Hiring top-tier talent and foster a diverse and dynamic engineering team.

    Requirements:

    • Solid domain or software engineering background (ex-engineers or ex-developers) with a proven track record of tackling complex technical challenges and devising strategic solutions;
    • Experience in software or engineering team management and leadership;
    • Experience in building a new engineering team from scratch is a plus;
    • Experience in long-term engineering development projects.
