- Biochemical analysis of cell death signalling pathways
- Isolation and culture of mouse primary cells of any type, preferably from autochthonous tumours
- Analysis of tumour-infiltrating immune cell types and subtypes (imaging and/or FACS)
- Conduct collaborative efforts across disciplines
- PhD in biochemistry, biophysics or a related field
- Advanced experience and publication record in cancer and/or cell death
- Expertise in immunology and analysis of immune cell types and subtypes
- Ability to independently drive research projects
- High level of motivation, enthusiasm, resilience and positivity

As part of our second phase, DFG-funded, collaborative research center (Sonderforschungsbereich) (cell death in small cell lung cancer) we are hiring a full-time (38.5 hrs/week), highly qualified and motivated candidate for a postdoctoral position in the areas of cell death, inflammation and cancer immunology, in the research group of Dr. Nieves Peltzer within the Department of Translational Genomics (Director: Professor Roman Thomas).
The aims at gaining a better understanding of the interplay between cell death and inflammation in chronic diseases and in cancer. Her group focuses on the signal transduction mechanisms that induce cell death and on the effects of different modalities of cell death on the surrounding microenvironment (Peltzer et al. Cell Reports 2014, Peltzer et al. Nature 2018, Peltzer and Walczak Trends in Immunology The group has as overarching aims the discovery of druggable targets within programmed cell death signaling pathways to treat autoimmune and degenerative diseases including cancer. The specific project relates to the study of inflammatory cell death in resistance to therapy and SCLC subtype decisions. To achieve this, state-of-the-art in vivo cancer models will be employed in combination with genomics and imaging techniques.
