**Job Description: In order to support the Chief Engineering Team, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a


Internship in Payload Engineering for Space (d/f/m):


  • Location: Immenstaad
  • Start:
  • Duration: 36 months


Our engineers provide responsibility to ensure end-to-end product's technical coherence, overall compliance and product performance over the whole life cycle and we manage the technical interaction with sub-contractors and Airbus' internal engineering disciplines in the center of competences (COC's).

Your tasks and responsibilities:


As a student, you will accompany before mentioned processes and be mentored by a member of the Chief Engineering Team, enabling you to get an insight to human space flight business.

This position will be particularly focussed on Fundamental and Fluid Physics, Energy and Closed Loop Systems as well as Optical Systems.

You will have the opportunity to work on the design of a novel experiment payload (feasibility study and conception design) as well as supporting the preparation of existing experiments next mission for 2024 (ESA - Fluid Science Laboratory - investigations on wet foams (foam-coarseing), emulsions (PASTA) and granular media (DLR - CompGran) under microgravity).


Support the Systems Engineering process, culture, competency and discipline, on day-to-day business activities, enabled by adequate Methods & Tools (M&T) products and services.

This support spans all aspects of the system life cycle.


Desired skills and qualifications:


  • You are enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within the field of aviation and aerospace engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, mechatronic or electrical engineering
  • Team spirit and willingness to cooperate and working together in an international company
  • People around you define you as an openminded, proactive and dynamic person.
  • You are very well organized and you know how to adapt to different situations
  • Autonomy and good communication skills are some of your assets
  • Fluent English language skills
  • German language skills is an asset
  • You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
