We are seeking a passionate experimental biologist or hybrid scientist with expertise in spatial ~omic approaches and/or single cell sequencing experimental research to join the Comparative Experimental Pathology, Institute of Pathology at Technical University Munich (TUM).

We are a central unit for experimental and translational pathology and are currently expanding our research portfolio to high-dimensional spatial ~omics technologies (CODEX, InSi-tuSlide Sequencing).

  • Pioneering experimental capabilities for high resolution spatial transcriptomics to enable deep interrogation of gene expression across tissue sections (mainly formalinfixed, paraffin embedded)
  • Designing, preparing and executing experiments utilizing different spatial ~omics platforms (i.e., CODEX, Xenium) with human and preclinical tissues.
  • Analyzing tissue sections from patient samples and preclinical models to better characterize cellular crosstalk, distribution in disease, and study biological mechanisms. The major research focus of our group is intra
- and intertumoral heterogeneity in gastrointestinal, pancreatic and liver cancer.

  • Troubleshooting and optimizing tissue processing and imaging workflows to ensure high level of quality and reliability of generated results
  • Performing analysis of spatial ~omics data
  • Presentation of research results in conferences and scientific publications

Education Minimum Requirement:
Ph.
D. in in molecular and cell biology or related disciplines

Required skills and experiences:

  • Handson expertise in molecular biology assays, especially high throughput genomic technologies including single cell RNAseq or spatial transcriptomics
  • Demonstrated expertise in Oncology and/or Immunology research
  • Keen understanding of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and the ability to rigorously analyze and document results
  • Being proactive and collaborating closely across multidisciplinary groups
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and collaboration, including an ability to effectively communicate experimental design, results and conclusions
Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in computational analysis and interpretation of spatial transcriptomics, spatial proteomics, single cell RNAseq and/or Total-Seq datasets.
We offer

  • A unique comparative pathology setup with a fully equipped laboratory (including several IHC machines and slide scanners) focussed on tissuebased research requests.
  • The possibility to work independently and proactively start collaborations.
  • The TUM, the medical faculty of TUM and our collaborative research structures provide an international environment with cuttingedge technologies and continuing education courses aiming at the individual development.
The position will be limited to two years. Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L).
