What to Expect

  • We are looking for a highly motivated Technician to join our Factory Firmware team. The team serves as the bridge between vehicle software R&D and the manufacturing environment; the team works globally and crossfunctionally towards supporting manufacturing with various KPIs, design solutions to improve efficiency, improving validation of vehicle software before it's integrated into manufacturing, and launching exciting new products. The Factory Firmware Team is the eyes and ears of the Vehicle Software organization within the factory and often have the last say on the integration of new firmware to manufacturing providing valuable insight and feedback to accelerate development of new software features.
The Role


This role will focus on validating and debugging new vehicle firmware / hardware releases into the factory with the objective of ensuring production uptime as well as final vehicle quality.

This will require working closely with vehicle firmware engineering teams and the ability to clearly document and communicate issues as they arise, as well as being able to diagnose the root cause of these issues to facilitate fixes and future software improvements.

The role requires a broad understanding of automotive embedded systems, vehicle communication systems, and a basic understanding of Linux systems.

What You'll Do

  • Work with engineering teams to initiate firmware or hardware trials, documenting trial progress and results
  • Investigate and rootcause failures found by firmware testing during the vehicle assembly process, document the results, and work with responsible engineering teams on either process, hardware, or firmware mitigations and improvements
  • Support escalations from quality or repair teams in diagnosing and resolving firmware testing issues
  • Manage small projects involving multiple departments and/or external vendors
  • Manage workload with positive attitude and proactively help coworkers.
  • Must be flexible to support both day, swing, and alternative work schedules (weekends and holidays may be required)
What You'll Bring

  • Ability to communicate clear information and pass downs or directions
  • Skilled with the use of a variety of hand, electrical, and automotive diagnostic tools
  • Skilled at troubleshooting low voltage automotive electrical systems
  • Experienced with diagnosing, repairing, and root causing automotive electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems
  • Able to read and interpret automotive wiring diagrams
  • Skilled with Microsoft Suite tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Detail oriented with strong recordkeeping and organizational skills
  • Work in a fast paced and quality focused environment
  • Manage workload while contributing to a positive, teamoriented work environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Three years of experience in an automotive service or manufacturing environment with a focus on vehicle qualitySkilled at troubleshooting high voltage automotive electrical systems
  • Understanding of vehicle communication systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have:

  • Experience capturing vehicle CAN traces for vehicle diagnostics and working with DBC files
  • Experience with CAN diagnostic tools such as PCAN Explorer or Vector CANape
  • Experience using the Linux terminal, common Linux command line tools, and bash scripting
  • Coding and development tools such as Python
  • Basic German
