Munich Re Markets is a global business that is active in the area of development and production of savings, investment and retirement products, the transfer and transformation of extreme risks, balance sheet and accounting driven solutions, and development of new or alternative asset classes.

We manage our clients' business targets by various corporate finance and risk management techniques, e.g. by means of structured reinsurance, hedging, and other transactions.

Your job

Supporting the business structuring and execution efforts mainly in Europe (focus Germany, Italy, France) through highly creative transactional problem solving attitude
Integrating and working with the global accounting and regulation team based in Munich and in hubs globally
Developing new reinsurance product concepts and structures with focus on accounting and regulatory aspects
Advising multiple stakeholders internal and client on key accounting and regulatory issues pertaining to transactions
Participating actively as a member of deal teams, working with both local and global staff
Monitoring accounting and regulatory developments in the insurance and reinsurance markets in particular in focus countries
Interfacing fluidly across the division's origination, structuring and trading functions
Preparing technical documentation to support new transactions

Profile:

University degree in a quantitative field; PhD a plus
Additional qualification (actuary and/or certified auditor a plus
10+ years of work experience connected to the insurance or reinsurance industries; employed with a consulting, public accounting, insurance/reinsurance firm or other financial institution
Strong knowledge of financial instrument accounting and consolidation regulation under IFRS as well as the regulatory frameworks.
Experience in working with auditing firms and the national insurance regulators in one or more of the relevant legislations
Familiar with concepts of structured and nontraditional reinsurance solutions and/or exotic financial derivatives and securities
Highly creative transactional problem solver with a demonstrated track record of success
Independent, proactive and a strong team player with the desire to work on, and contribute to the success of, a global team
Intellectually curious, with excellent communication and presentation skills
Persuasive and credible ability to initiate and maintain own client interactions
