    Your mission

    • Lead the design and development of our hydrofoil system.
    • Conduct comprehensive analyses, calculations and feasibility studies to assess the ship's hydrodynamics and performance.
    • Conduct CFD simulations to optimize the hydrofoil design.
    • Analyze the transition phase between displacement and foiling mode of the vessel.
    • Oversee and optimize overall dynamic behavior of the vessel in a hydrodynamic context.
    • Oversee the creation of detailed design plans, specifications, and blueprints.
    • Design suitable test and validation strategies and conduct field tests with different prototype vessels.
    • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and researchers.
    • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
    • Play a critical role in securing funding and partnerships by contributing to grant applications, proposals, and technical presentations.

    Your profile

    • Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field
    • Proven experience (5+ years) in naval architecture, with a strong focus on hydrofoil design.
    • Prior experience in racing or high-performance projects is a massive plus.
    • Strong expertise in hydrodynamic CFD simulations, ideally with prior experience in simulating the boundary layer (between water and air)
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks) is a plus.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in a young and dedicated team.
    • Motivated, independent and reliable way of working.
    • Passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • Proficient German skills are a plus.

    We are CargoKite, a Munich-based early-stage startup developing a new, wind-powered ship class for oversea transportation of freight. We are a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich and aim to decarbonize global shipping. With our high-tech sailing ship we help commercial shipping companies to reduce operating costs, cut emissions by 100% and enable a faster and more customizable shipping service.
