Tesla is looking for Lead Structural Engineer to work on large scale ground-up Engineering-Procurement-Construction project that requires exceptional talent. Our environment is fast-paced and incredibly exciting.

In this role, you will be asked to be the primary structural engineering lead and a senior member for the design and engineering efforts to support construction of infrastructure development, from concept level to production.

What You'll Do

Lead all structural design concept evaluations and decisions, leading to completion of construction drawings for permit and construction execution
Manage multiple projects throughout planning, design, bid, and construction phases
Drive support staff, internal and 3rdparty engineers
Interface with external Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms during bid and project execution phases as needed to ensure that designs and specifications meet our Engineering Standards.
Support the design and construction of a variety of new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities
Coordinate structural design on multidiscipline project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals.
Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, along with the creation of justifying structural calculations.
Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgement.
Effectively and proactively communicate project needs, changes, and status to internal and external team members
Develop and mentor less experienced engineering staff
Present design concepts and progress at project milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) design reviews to stakeholders and multidiscipline teams
Able to develop quantity take offs and assist with cost estimating for projects in short time frames
Complete field work independently or with the design team
Manage structural projects from estimating through construction.
Working knowledge of US building codes and structural design standards.
Provide planning estimates with limited scoping information
Perform construction administration tasks including review and coordination of RFIs, RFPs, submittal logs, bids, shop drawings, etc. Interact with contractors, fabricators, stakeholders and consultant teams.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, or equivalent
Extensive professional experience in structural design of commercial, industrial, operational facilities or oil & gas industries
Familiarity with Revit Structural and experienced with Navisworks
Detailoriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
Able to multitask and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines
Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
Selfdirected, highly motivated selfstarter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
Strong desire to be a part of a world class team focused on achieving amazing results
