Responsibilities:

Duties include teaching and research in the respective department or institute. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications as well as acquire teaching experience. These duties are intended to promote academic achievement. Therefore, at least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the associate's own academic work.


More specifically, teaching includes 4 hours per week and will cover especially seminars and practical on various levels from Bachelor to Master students in Biology.

Research will be in the research area of Mycoparasitism with a focus on fungus-fungus interactions on morphological and physiological level.

This includes especially various techniques in microscopy like, LSM, TEM and SEM as well as molecular methods from DNA and RNA sequencing, comparative genomics with NGS data, or biochemical approaches like mass spectrometry.

Finally, field work and isolation of strains from various habitats and regions will be part of the work.


Profile:

A university degree in a relevant field, plus doctorate.


Detailed knowledge of mycoparasites and experience with fungal cultivation is needed and a strong background in microscopy, molecular techniques and bioinformatics is required.

In addition, the successful applicant has to show experience with transmission electronmicrospopy and the analyses of NGS data. The position requires the development of an individual research profile, therefore motivation, scientific interest and research compences are essential. Intercultural experience is expected.
