RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

  • Develop expertise in all Performance, Reward, Benefits issues, acting as a trusted reward adviser to relevant SCB AG Management Team members and their direct teams.
  • Provide support on execution of reward advisor matters and the execution of relevant policies and processes and ensure regulatory compliance

Business

  • Work with the Head, PRB, Europe and Americas to provide day to day reward support for SCB AG, including structuring packages, reviewing new hires, changes to existing employees' contracts, developing High Remuneration Recruit proposals, mobility taxation and share buyouts and the planning and completion of the annual reward review.
  • Establish relationships with Country HR Head, HR business partners, SCB AG Supervisory and Management Boards in order to lead the local market reward agenda and to align local market practice with that of the Group and prevailing remuneration regulations.
  • Provide relevant advice to assigned HR stakeholders on a range of employee compensation areas which may include banding, generic pay philosophies and pay positioning, approach to reward for internationally mobile employees, redundancy and total compensation.
  • Work with the Head, PRB, Europe and Americas and the Performance, Rewards and Benefits network to ensure that compensation activities within SCB AG are aligned with Group policies and standards and that activities are consistent across regional and functional business areas.
  • Design and coordinate regional specific policies, processes and documentation to maintain alignment with local remuneration regulations and the current and future Group HR and business strategy.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of regulatory remuneration guidelines and how these interact with internal policies and guidance. Be prepared to present papers at SCB AG Management and Supervisory Boards and support SCB AG wide communications and answer questions from the business.
  • Proactively support the communication of changes to Group compensation policies and standards to HR stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the competitiveness and effectiveness of Standard Chartered's compensation policies and practices within SCB AG and feedback into the PRB network.

Processes

  • Collaborate with PRB Product Heads to achieve excellence in the implementation of PRB products and policies across business functions, seeking to improve functional understanding of these in order to drive business performance and employee motivation.
  • Manage year end performance and pay review processes from the perspective of SCB AG, in line with Group guidelines and acting as a point of contact for their respective management teams

Specifically:

  • Lead discussions with the business teams in relation to the Group Year End Review messaging.
  • Coordinate all relevant business communication including Year-End key messages.
  • Manage other annual compensation processes including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Embed the Group's fair accountability approach via discussions regarding material risk and conduct issues with relevant business and function risk / control panels, leading and managing detailed reviews of awards and risk / conduct issues in the relevant client / product reward forums, prior to discussion at reward plan committees.
  • Collaborate with all PRB specialists on market pricing to increase the level of consistency across markets, reduce vendor costs and generally ensure data is used in an impactful manner.
  • Manage, evaluate and improve effectiveness of all HR products, plans and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of PRB by technology enhancements, migration to GPS or process improvements.
  • Partner with Country Service Delivery in the negotiation and recommendation of Service Level Agreements through the region with the Bank's external reward and benefits vendors (e.g. Remuneration survey vendors, benefits consultants, insurance providers) to secure service and agree budgets

Risk Management

  • In respect of the Group's Risk Management Framework ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility. Identify and articulate forward looking risks for the SCB AG. Articulate and manage them through designated PRB risk registers and HRORC. Ensure all geographical specific Operational Risk (OR) and Compliance requirements related to PRB advisory are met.
  • Support statutory and internal audits, as appropriate.
  • Provide oversight and assurance to country PRB specialists' regulatory relationships with reference to PRB advisory & design.

Governance

  • Thorough knowledge of local regulation, ie IVV (Remuneration Ordinance), EBA Guidelines, KWG, MaRisk etc.
