The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) is a member of the Helmholtz Association (HGF) and funded by federal and state government.

AWI focuses on polar and marine research in a variety of disciplines such as biology, oceanography, geology, geochemistry and geophysics thus allowing multidisciplinary approaches to scientific goals.


  • Student assistant for the staff unit Program Management (M/F/d, 20 hours)

Background

The staff unit Program Management oversees all activities within the current research program PACES II (PoF III) and supports the Directorate and the program spokesperson in the preparations for the fourth round of program-oriented funding (PoF IV) in order to adapt the existing research program to the future structure of the Research Field Earth and Environment.

In addition, the staff develops concepts and instruments for a future programmatic and project-oriented management of basic funding at AWI.


Tasks
We need support
- in event organization (on-site, hybrid, online)
- in programmatic planning processes (e.g. AWI's junior researcher program INSPIRES)
- in AWI internal and external communication (Confluence, intranet, website)
- in knowledge transfer activities
- in the creation of presentations and reports (e.g. layout, format templates)
- in all administrative tasks (digital data and list maintenance, research, form creation with Excel, document preparation and follow-up, proofreading, quality management, etc.)


Requirements:


  • Students (bachelor or master studies) in environmental/natural sciences (e.g., geography, biology, climate science, Physics, ecology, or a related field)
- fluent German and English language skills
- very good knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially MS Excel and Power-Point)

  • Knowledge of Typo 3 is an advantage
  • High openmindedness to quickly familiarize yourself with new and diverse fields of activity
  • Affinity for digital tools in project management
  • Independent and careful way of working
  • Willingness to travel

Bremerhaven,predominantly home office desired
