Your focus


This senior management role will lead ITM's market and business development, driving our growth strategy through high quality sales opportunities and building strategic customer relationships in line with the ITM Power brand and market positioning.

The role will be fundamental in helping our customers to decarbonise their businesses and grow green hydrogen's role in delivering net-zero.

It is expected that travel (domestic and international) will be a fundamental part of this role.


We require an entrepreneurial, curious and commercially focussed business developer excited by the prospect of working with cutting edge green technology that can make a difference in the journey to net zero.


Main accountabilities include:

  • Market, customer and competitor analysis to drive business development strategy and to inform wider business strategy and planning
  • Originating and developing high quality sales opportunities in line with ITM strategy to deliver against pipeline and sales targets
  • Defining and executing customer account strategy, mobilising the wider business in support of key accounts
  • Supporting strategic partnership discussions
  • Responsibility for the leadership and management of the Business Development team across international regions
  • Leading the development and implementation of Business Development activity including short and longerterm implementation plans
  • Working with the Commercial Director to agree commercial strategic targets and goals

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and map new markets and opportunities for ITM Power
  • New business acquisition develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers and partners, including the identification of potential leads and growth markets
  • Supporting the sales team with the submission of tenders and bids, ensuring they are compelling and meet customer requirements, driving a culture of 'winning work'
  • Presentations (technical and commercial) to customers and at conferences/exhibitions
  • Develop and implement lead generation strategies to engage potential customers
  • Provide regular data and reports on the progress of business development activities and the impact on company growth
  • Review and further develop appropriate contracting mechanisms within the business to ensure ITM Power have robust commercial contracting in place from the development of procedures to the strengthening of collaborative working with internal stakeholders
  • Look for opportunities to maximise margin growth, impacting the commercial KPI delivery and minimise costs
  • Provide clarity to the sales team on all business development activities, supporting them with a clear route to market and the tools to fulfil their responsibilities
  • Continually identify the need for contract commercial improvement, providing tactical and strategic thinking and execution
  • Build and develop long term relationships with internal and external customers, mentoring and coaching the team in commercial relationship building best practice
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop our existing client delivery
  • Leading the competency development and growth potential of the team
  • Comply with the governance and Company procedures and role model this with team
  • Ensure for project compliance purposes and internal auditing that sales and revenue data is accurately maintained
  • Develop long term strategic relationships with clients and across the wide
