- Management, coordination, & implementation of varied activities connected to the ongoing development and strategic expansion of the ELLIS Unit Darmstadt and the Zuse School ELIZA
- Strategic and operational support for participating scientists
- Strategic development and establishment of profile-shaping curricular courses/trainings and event for ELLIS and ELIZA
- Conceptual and organizational support for the director in coordinating joint research activities, such as international exchange and visitor programs
- Networking with international and national partners in ELLIS and ELIZA
- Organization and evaluation of various scientific initiatives and events (e.g., exchange and visitor programs, hackathons, or summer schools)
- Positioning of ELIZA as an attractive graduate school for international top talents in modern AI
- Development of a communication concept targeting various audiences from academia, business, and society
- Design and establishment of communication channels (e.g., website updates/news, social media) using independently created content as well as student created, audience-oriented materials, press releases, articles, and interviews to enhance ELIZA's international visibility
- Integration of ELIZA into the scientific ecosystem in Darmstadt, connecting ELIZA institutions and positioning of ELIZA within ELLIS
- Active identification and expansion/creation of synergies between ELIZA and other collaborative research projects
- M.Sc. degree in computer science, cognitive science, mathematics, or engineering
- Background in AI, especially in machine learning or a machine learning-driven field (e.g., computer vision, NLP, robotics) is desired. A Ph.D. in such a field is a further plus
- Experience in and high motivation for science management and strong interest in the research areas of ELLIS and ELIZA in particular
- Ability to work in a highly organized, independent, as well as collaborative fashion and to take initiative
- Analytical and critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to diligently manage a broad range of different responsibilities
- Ability to interact with members of the scientific community & administrators of different seniority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Verbal and written fluency in German, or the willingness to acquire fluency, are a plus
- Willingness to travel (multiple times per year)

The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is a diverse European network that promotes research excellence and advances breakthroughs in AI by bringing together Europe's top researchers in modern AI to strengthen scientific excellence and boost economic growth in Europe by leveraging AI technologies. The Darmstadt Unit in the ELLIS network connects the research, educational, and transfer activities at TU Darmstadt to ELLIS.
The Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELIZA) builds directly upon ELLIS and its leading academic network for machine learning-focused AI. Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), ELIZA transfers the ideas and objectives of ELLIS into a graduate school that connects seven German ELLIS locations (Berlin, Darmstadt, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Munich, Saarbrücken, Tübingen) with their academic institutions. Industrial partners provide direct connections to the AI industry in Germany and beyond. ELIZA directly supports and funds research and education of Master's and PhD students and aims to become the leading German brand for research and education in machine learning-centered AI.
