Duties:


  • Develop short and longrange plans required for efficient and effective utilization of personnel and equipment required to support 24 hoursperday, 7 daysperweek telecommunications services to customers.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to circuit/trunk/system outage problems and equipment failures.
  • Contribute to the development of Operating Instructions pertaining to Company functions by preparing or modifying Standard Operating Procedures for the situation.
  • Serve as the first level supervisor to the operations civilian and military personnel.
  • Analyze work requirements, anticipate workload/capability of the Company to determine the staff resources, equipment, and budget requirements needed to accomplish work assignments, and make adjustments among subordinate shifts as deemed appropriate.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all communications circuit/trunk/system or equipment degradations or outages.

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance eligibility with access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • The IT classification for this position is IT-I. Position is designated as special sensitive.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. Employee may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
  • May be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Position has been designated Key. This is a Federal position that shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the Agency or office to function effectively.
  • In support of the mission, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a NTV drive license for driving Government Owned Vehicles.
  • The employee is required to obtain a DoDD 8570 IAT level II certification appropriate to assigned duties of the position.

Qualifications:


  • Due to COVID19, the agency is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within a designated time frame identified by the organization. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.

Basic Requirement for a Supervisory Telecommunications Specialist:


Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes providing staff direction or advice relative to existing communication systems and radio frequencies; analyzing the need for repairs, upgrades, or replacements; planning and scheduling work to be accomplished by subordinates; and maintaining, configuring and troubleshooting communications and network systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).


  • Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
