Responsibilities:
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
Specific Duties
- material analysis of various written artefacts in cooperation with the Research Fields of the Cluster
- further development of procedures and methods for material analysis
- teaching in the Master's programme "Manuscript Cultures"
- supervision of technical equipment
Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant field.
A doctorate is desirable.
- extensive knowledge and at least two years of research experience in different material science analytical techniques (physical and chemical approaches) for the study of cultural artefacts
- knowledge of and experience with X-ray fluorescence analysis, vibrational spectroscopy (FT infrared and Raman), microscopy, VIS spectroscopy and mass spectrometry
- knowledge and experience in the restoration and conservation of paper, parchment and papyrus artefacts
- experience in sample preparation procedures and in software solutions required for the material science-analytical tasks
- experience in cooperation with cultural institutions and non-university partners
- fluency in English, written and spoken
