Duties:


  • Reviews, examines, and resolves problems of substantial difficulty relating to discrepant pay accounts that have been dropped or partially dropped due to programming deficiencies.
  • Works with systems analysts, programmers, and control analysts in examining and interpreting problems encountered in the system.
  • Identifies the problem, prepares recommended program changes to system accountants and policy personnel and assigns the urgency for corrective action.
  • Updates pay accounts of members based on court martial, Article 15 nonjudicial punishment, and other legal orders and decisions.
  • Duties reflect performance at the full performance level, (FPL) if filled at less than full performance level, FPL (GS07) duties will be developmental in nature.

Qualifications:


  • This position is being filled under the
    Applicants MUST have related financial experience AND/OR a related financial degree (examples include: Finance, Accounting, Management, Actuarial Science, or related), in addition to meeting Office of Personnel Management (OPM) minimum qualification requirements.

Substitution of combination of education and experience must still, in conjunction, mínimally satisfy the DHA qualification requirement.


One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience performing duties that support the processing of financial/accounting transactions using standardized procedures that may include reviewing financial/accounting systems information/documents for accuracy/completeness, inputting financial/accounting information into automated systems, or correcting invalid financial/accounting transactions


GS-06:


Specialized experience is defined as:

Experience reviewing and processing a wide variety of complex, non-recurring payroll transactions, and resolving problems within automated pay accounts.

Experience must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of a wide-range of payroll actions, regulations, policies and procedures.


GS-07:


Specialized experience is defined as:

Experience reviewing and processing a wide variety of complex military payroll transactions; determining entitlements; and examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy.

Reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complicated military payroll problems or issues using a variety of techniques.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

  • You may qualify for consideration if meeting timein grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
