The Chair of Theoretical physics of electrified liquid-solid interfaces/Resolv of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a

PhD position (m,f,x) for 3 years with 26,2878 hours per week (TV-L E13):

Theresearch aims to understand the structure, dynamics and reactivity of solid-liquid interfaces using a multiscale approach that includes ab initio and atomistic molecular dynamics simulations.

A PhD position is available in the group of Marialore Sulpizi at the Ruhr University Bochum (Germany) to understand the interplay between pairing and stacking of nucleotides with a multiscale computer simulation approach including ab initio as well as classical molecular dynamics (MD) and machine-learnt potentials for large scale simulations.

The project is in in collaboration with Alberta Ferrarini at the University of Padoa (Italy).

Your tasks:
***- to perform molecular dynamics simulations, including ab initio as well as classical molecular dynamics (MD) and machine-learnt potentials to understand the interplay between pairing and stacking of nucleotides,

- to obtain, for selected base pairs, the phase diagram as a function of density and temperature.

Your profile:

You hold an A
grade ("very good") qualifying degree at the level of Master or Diploma; degrees in physics, chemistry or a related discipline will be accepted.
You have good knowledge of quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. Experience with molecular simulations and scripting languages (e.g. python) is a plus.
You have very good English language skills (equal to B2, oral and writing).
