Intelligent components can detect and evaluate changes in the environment or in the system itself and adapt to them independently.

As a partner of industry, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS develops key technologies for adaptive systems with about 110 employees at Dresden and offers innovative technologies and robust solutions.


Building and system simulation can make a significant contribution to the energy efficiency of buildings if it is applied in early planning phases.

A major hurdle here is the considerable effort required to create the corresponding simulation models. The increasing use of BIM (Building Information Modeling), i.e. continuous data processing in the planning process, can significantly reduce this modeling effort. For plant simulation, interfacing with BIM is a field of current research, using Linked Data and Semantic Web technologies.

What you will do
You...
- familiarize yourself with the BRICK scheme
- work your way into the building system simulation with Modelica
- work out concepts (if necessary alternative variants) for the coupling of BRICK and Modelica
- implement a prototype


What you bring to the table

  • You are studying mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer science or similar and have knowledge in the field of building services engineering
  • You have first programming experience, ideally with Python
  • You have a structured and independent way of working and show initiative
  • You have good written and spoken German and English skills
