Duties:


  • Serves as a network administrator and telecommunications room manager.
  • Performs rekeying of COMSEC devices as necessary and maintains rekey data on all assigned devices.
  • Maintains inventory of related computer and teleprocessing hardware within assigned telecommunications rooms.
  • Analyzes the LAN to ensure maximum performance and reliability.
  • Uses Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), to manage, monitor, control, perform diagnostics, and maintain network communication circuits.
  • Serves as a Network Administrator responsible for the integration, configuration, and sustainment of the USAFRICOM data communications network.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET eligibility with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • This position is designated as IAT Level III, required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training
- and obtain the required certification/recertification as outlined in DoD Publication M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating change 3, 24 Jan 2013 or current version).

  • Overtime will be required on short notice.
  • Shift work may be required on a 24/7 basis and also may be necessary during exercises, crises or contingencies.
  • Incumbent may be required to work extended and irregular tours of duty, temporarily, to include days, nights, shifts, and weekends
  • Incumbent may be required to perform 30% TDY to US AFRICOM areas of responsibility.
  • The IT Classification for the position is IT-I. Position is designated Special Sensitive.
  • Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment andS periodically thereafter IAW AR60085 Alcohol and Drug Abuse Convention and Control Program.
  • The incumbent may be on an "oncall" status on a rotational basis.

  • Current DoD Employees: If a current permanent CES employee, you shall be granted administrative return rights. If not a current permanent CES employee, you may be granted administrative return rights if agreed to by your CONUS organization.
  • In accordance with DoD CES Personnel System Implementation Guidance for Overseas Rotations and Administrative Return Rights, employees must be able to satisfy the rotation requirement and tour limitations in DoD Instruction Volume 1230.

    This position is in the Supervision/Management Work Category at the Senior Level within the CES Occupational Structure.
  • To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by

(1) managing a LAN and/or WAN;

(2) managing cryptographic material;
-
(3) experience with Data Center technologies; and
-
(4) creating and reviewing technical diagrams and designs.

  • The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
