Our Profile:

Our research questions focus on behavioral and development economics. In particular, we are interested in mental well-being and differences between women and men. One potentially important but understudied factor, especially in economics, is mental load. Mental load describes the often hidden, cognitive efforts of organizing the private life.

Your Profile:

Strong interest in mental load and experimental methodology
High motivation, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently
Fluency in English
Previous work experience, for example, as a research assistant, will be an asset
Immatriculation in a consecutive course
Enrolled in a higher education institution on the Master's level, in a course related to Economics, Psychology, or Business, and right to work in Germany

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Your task will be to support the research by Prof Dr Lisa Spantig. This will entail, but is not limited to the following

Survey the literature in psychology and the related literature in economics to summarize the current conceptualizations of mental load
Think about measurement of mental load and propose how to overcome current challenges
Learn about experimental methods and how they can be applied to mental load
Collaborate on the development of research questions and research design
Be part of a new research agenda, contribute your own ideas and follow the research process from an early stage. This will be particularly exciting if you would like to gain handson research experience with a focus on project development.

What We Offer:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term until end of December 2023.

The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).

This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8-16 hours.
Work can be timed flexibly in each week.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 14,00€/h.
