The Role

Providing travelers the best deal and experience is key for the success of our company.

Every single team at trivago contributes to it, including our tax team which consists of 4 national and international tax experts.

We are responsible for dealing with all issues and questions around income taxes, VAT & transfer pricing.

To optimize the setup of the team, we are looking for an experienced lead who will ensure that trivago is always tax compliant, as well as support the development of the existing team.

In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Finance and play a crucial part in identifying process improvements in the tax processes in a rapidly-changing business and regulatory environment.

How you'll make an impact:

Create, review, and coordinate tax declarations for income taxes, VAT & transfer pricing
Provide (deferred) tax calculations and cover other tax reporting requirements arising from our reporting obligation in accordance with US-GAAP, HGB and IFRS
Develop and standardize our tax compliance structure and optimize our processes by focusing on automatization and digitalization
Manage, coordinate, and further develop the existing team of 4 experts
Be responsible for all questions and issues around income taxes, VAT & transfer pricing
Support projects from a tax perspective i.e. M&A transactions, product innovations
Maintain relationship with external auditors and tax advisors

What we're looking for:

7+ years' experience in national and international tax gained in a multinational company or consulting firm
A proactive personality with a high level of intrinsic motivation
A team player who values team work and likes to work in an environment with flat hierarchies
Excellent communication skills in German and our company language English
If you have successfully passed a tax advisor exam or similar taxfocused qualification, that would be a plus
