Faculty of Computer Science, the
Institute of Theoretical Computer Science invites


Chair (W2) of Algorithmic and Structural Graph Theory
to be filled as of
October 1, 2025.

The research focus of the chair shall complement the existing competences in theoretical computer
science at TUD and the International Center for Computational Logic. We also expect strong interest
in collaborations within the Faculty of Computer Science, especially within the Institute of Theoretical
Computer Science, and a willingness to contribute to collaborative research projects. Your tasks in
teaching include courses in German and English language within the scope of the dedication of the
chair in undergraduate and graduate studies of Bachelor, Master, and Diploma courses at the Faculty
of Computer Science, in particular advanced theoretical courses of the international Master program
Computational Modeling and Simulation in English and undergraduate courses on Theoretical
Computer Science of the Bachelor and Diploma program in German. We expect your participation in
teaching export for other study programs. Moreover, the supervision of Bachelor-, Master-, Diploma
- and PhD-theses is required. Finally, we expect experience and active participation in self
- administration within the academic boards of the Faculty of Computer Science and of TUD.

This position requires a person with an excellent record of academic achievements, whose research
focus is in the field of theoretical computer science at the intersection of graph theory and at least
- theory of data-intensive algorithms and systems,
- parametrized complexity and algorithms,
- descriptive complexity theory,
- algorithmic algebra and computational number theory.

We expect very good teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer courses in English
language. Proficiency in German language is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, the
appointment to conduct teaching and administrative tasks in German language. Excellent publications

on topics of the dedicated research area of the chair, especially at renowned theoretical computer
science conferences, are of particular importance. Prior experience in independent teaching,
execution and acquisition of third-party funded research projects, and the supervision of PhD
students are appreciated, and will be required to match the academic age and current career stage.
In addition to the general requirements applicants must fulfill the appointment requirements of - 59
of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
