- Assist in the preparation and execution of both in-person and virtual events
- Support the travel arrangements, accommodations, and reimbursements for funded participants
- Aid the team in program development and speaker management
- Help maintain event websites
- Manage event email accounts
- Assist in video editing
- Handle the app and virtual platform management (content updates, user experience)
- Track logistical information for event participants, speakers, partners, and staff
- Develop content for newsletters and promotional material
- Create content for ICLEI Global Events social media channels
- Support various other tasks and functions of the ICLEI Global Events team as required
- Currently enrolled in a relevant subject, such as Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or similar
- Proficiency in web editing (preferably WordPress) and desktop publishing software (preferably InDesign)
- Experience with virtual platform management (Zoom, Whova, etc.)
- Creative, proactive, and strong team player
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office
- Experience with MailChimp
- Knowledge of social media management and event promotion
- Experience working with non-profit or membership organizations
- Experience with local or regional governments
- Proficiency in additional languages, particularly German, Portuguese, or Spanish, is a plus
- Familiarity with desktop publishing software (InDesign preferred)
- Start date: 1 March 2023 at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany
- Supervised by and report to the Global Events Senior Officer
- Monthly remuneration: 1000 Euros (full-time), pre-tax and social insurance fees
- 40 working hours per week, 2 days off per month
- Working language: English

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 2,500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. Active in 125+ countries, we influence sustainability policy and drive local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient, and circular development. Our Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships, and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability. The ICLEI World Secretariat is based in Bonn, Germany.
The ICLEI Global Events serves key organizational functions for the World Secretariat and the entire global organization, including the organization of key global events. We collaborate in a multicultural, international environment with colleagues and partners around the globe. Internship in the ICLEI Global Events Team
This internship presents a valuable learning opportunity for enrolled students, a mandatory part of their studies.
The candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the planning and implementation of Daring Cities 2023, the next ICLEI World Congress, and the logistics and operation of the LGMA Multilevel Action Pavilion at COP28.
