Director, Value Stream Secondary

This is a site-based role in Dresden, Germany.


This is a truly exciting opportunity for the Director, Value Stream Secondary to be part of the leadership team at the Dresden site, to meet customer expectations for safety, quality, supply, cost and leadership in accordance with all applicable external and internal standards and guidelines.

Directly reporting to the job holder are the Filling / Inspection, Aseptic, and Support Secondary departments.


The job holder is responsible for maintaining the Supply Plan in accordance with established KPIs and Standard Release Times for Flu and Non-Flu Intermediates.


The job holder is a member of the Site Leadership Team, co-responsible for site results as well as responsible for area results.

In this role you will have:

  • Ensure operations to comply with approved EHS standards and regulations (legal, global and local). Promote an EHS culture and provide focused workforce for employee safety and sustainability.
  • Quality: implement and monitor quality systems to ensure all operations are performed according to GSK QMS and local SOPs. Develop process understanding / knowledge within the department to improve proactive identification and correction of process deviations. Ensure consistent GMP risk identification, mitigation and escalation processes are in place.
  • Strategy development and implementation: priority definition for the value stream according to the defined site strategy. Content support, as well as communication of the site strategy. The job holder develops and participates in strategic developments for the site and acts as an ambassador in the GSK network.
  • Supply Performance Management: develop and implement operational work methods to provide simpler processes to add value and for other business processes in the value stream. The job holder will ensure through leadership that all intermediate products are produced in accordance with procedures and policies and operational plans.
  • Cost: Appropriate measures are to be defined by the job holder to achieve financial targets and supply plans for the Value Stream. Plan and implement cost control, production efficiency and value creation measures to ensure all area operating costs (Opex and Site Capex) are within agreed budget and target.
  • People: engage and inspire employees. effectively communicate the site vision at all levels. The job holder will lead the Value Stream, which includes both line reports and business partners, to foster a culture of accountability, flexibility, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications and skills:


  • Degree Qualified preferably in Science/Engineering/Business discipline
  • Considerable experience in a similar leadership role preferably within Pharmaceuticals
  • Very good knowledge of cGMP rules and derived standards and guidelines.
  • Thorough of legal regulations regarding drug manufacturing and regulatory expectations
  • Knowledge of industry standards
  • Very good skills to lead and develop personnel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ability to assimilate large quantities of information to spot enterprise level themes/treads
