The Institute of Computational Biology is a globally recognized department for innovations in data analysis and modeling of biological systems, anchored at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich and the Technical University Munich.


We recently got granted a project for the, a global initiative for creating a reference map of all cells of the human body.

The project "Heart Cell Atlas Throughout Pediatric Development" is funded by the within the call "Seed networks for the Human Cell Atlas".

Responsibilities:


  • Analyzing single cell OMICS data from the human heart, in particular scRNAseq, scATACseq and spatial transcriptomics
  • Implementing, developing and extending methods for analyzing single cell OMICS data, in particular for the integration of data sets from different labs, technologies and OMICS types
  • Participating in regular video calls and real life meetings to discover the cells and molecular drivers of human heart development and their role in disease
  • Involvement and support in fundraising activities
Your qualifications

  • You are an independent creative thinker driven by curiosity
  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science, mathematics, physics or equivalent
  • Background in statistical data analysis, ideally for (sc)RNAseq data
  • Strong coding skills, preferably in Python and/or R
  • Passion for science and scientific work
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Experience in international interdisciplinary research teams
  • Experience in computational methods development
