To support
ENGIE growth, we are looking for an
AIFA (acquisitions, investments and financial advisory)
Financial Advisor to join the
AIFA teams located either in
Brussels,
Paris, Berlin, Milan or Madrid.


The role will report to Senior AIFA and job cover any activity of the group GBU depending on the work load and other staff assignments but limited to European countries.

The Acquisitions, Investments and Financial Advisory ("AIFA") is a global and fast-paced group that is closely involved in major or structural transactions and strategic initiatives.


The team is dedicated in support of ENGIE's operations in European perimeter to any of the 5 Global Business Units (Energy Solutions, Network, Nuclear, Renewables, Thermal and Supply).

Although the main responsibility and focus is covering Europe excluding France, flexibility is required to be able to support the work (as and when required) in other countries within Europe.

You can manage several deals (3 to 5 for aggregate value of 1 GEUR) at the same time. You will report to a Senior Financial Advisor.


Your mission
- you provide direct decision support and financial analysis for investment projects such as acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, financings and responses to calls for tender
- you ensure the valuation methodology and investment criteria are consistently applied across all projects (including installation and maintenance contracts)
- you support corporate initiatives such as the annual impairment review and look-back exercises
- you develop, manage and improve complex financial models that are used for decision making from inputs from detailed operational assumption to key financial indicators required at investment decision


Your key Accountabilities
- you develop robust project models in line with AIFA best practices and ensure all relevant investment guidelines have been considered. You ensure accurate and consistent financial information across all projects, with great attention to detail
- you identify and thoroughly analyse key valuation drivers. You liaise directly with business development, finance and tax to understand the business plans and relevant assumptions and their associated impact on the project model as well as the accounting and tax treatment as appropriate
- you calculate both the valuation as well the accounting impacts (net debt, COI, ROCE, Net Results, profit on disposal) of investment decisions. Contributing to quality and uniformity of valuation methods
- you fully prepare investment files in anticipation of submission to investment committee. All key issues should have been clearly identified and succinctly communicated in presentations
- you support to structuring, financial modelling, negotiation, and execution of non-recourse project financings with the support of AIFA corporate for PPP projects if relevant

  • Maintain market intelligence, screen opportunities, monitor and assess competitors' approach to financing/funding projects;
- you establish and maintain strong working relationships, with the finance, tax, legal and business development teams to ensure effective information flow. You ensure a deep understanding of regional performance
- you perform annual impairment test valuations and ad-hoc transversal studies on key areas for the business units. You engage directly with the external auditors to defend the ENGIE position where appropriate
- you manage the external relations with the project financing and M&A banks and advisors, financing Institutions, investment funds...
- you determine the best investment structure (for ENGIE and partners), taking into account strategic (partnership), governance, flexibility (for future disposal/restructuring), value creation matters
- you review and contribute to the drafting all transaction documents/contracts (SPA, SHA, off-take and supply contracts) from the point of view of economical robustness, financability/bankability, risk allocation, accounting, consolidation, tax, partnership

- master's degree from reputable engineering, business school or university. Chartered Accountant and/or CFA is a plus

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in similar fields (business development, project financing, M&A, strategy consulting, Big 4) or with identified transferable skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills (resultsoriented but still looking at issues in a very detailed manner);
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, tax and company structures;
  • Knowledge of valuation methodologies, financial models, business plans preparation, and simulation tools;
- good knowledge of the energy services sector and financial
