Your mission:


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Instrument Software Development, Testing, and Verification Intern.

This internship (or working student) position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing features for the Workflow Manager software, as well as testing and verifying them on an instrument unit comprising a Liquid Handler and a Microscope.


You will have primary responsibilities for software development in C#,.NET 7, and Python, as well as testing and verification, to ensure optimal functionality and performance of the instrument's workflow manager software.


Furthermore you will:


  • Familiarize yourself with the Automatic Liquid Handler and Microscopic unit, understanding their components, functionalities, and operating procedures comprehensively.
  • Collaborate with the software development team to understand the requirements and goals for feature development in the Workflow Manager software.
  • Design and implement new features and functionality for the software, adhering to coding standards and best practices
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of the developed software features to ensure their reliability, accuracy, and compatibility with the instrument unit
  • Collaborate closely with the instrument testing and verification team to integrate and verify the software features on the Liquid Handler and Microscope
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or bugs identified during testing, documenting them thoroughly and communicating them to the software development team
  • Work with the team to continuously improve the performance, userfriendliness, and efficiency of the workflow manager software
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including hardware engineers, scientists, and endusers, to gather feedback and incorporate it into the software development process.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and version control for the software development process and changes made to the Workflow Manager software.
  • Adhere to established coding standards, software development methodologies, and project timelines

Your profile:


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Good working knowledge in any Object Oriented, Statically typed Programming languages such as C#, Java, or C++
  • Strong interest in laboratory instrumentation and a genuine desire to gain practical experience in instrument testing and verification
  • Demonstrate exceptional problemsolving skills and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in english) to effectively convey information and collaborate with colleagues
  • Demonstrate a strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
