- Develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity plans, policies and procedures to ensure the organization's ability to respond to and recover from disruptions
- Identify critical business functions, processes, resources and establish strategies and measures to mitigate risks and minimize downtime
- Conduct business impact assessments to assess potential risks and quantify the financial and operational impacts of disruptions
- Define recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for critical business processes 2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities and single points of failure that may impact business operations
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and implement preventive measures to minimize the likelihood and impact of disruptions
- Stay updated on emerging risks, industry trends and regulatory requirements related to business continuity and incorporate them into the planning process 3. Business Continuity Testing and Maintenance:
- Design and conduct regular testing exercises, such as tabletop simulations and full-scale drills, to validate the effectiveness of business continuity plans
- Analyze test results, identify areas for improvement and update plans and procedures accordingly
- Coordinate and facilitate training programs to educate employees on their roles and responsibilities during disruptions 4. Crisis Management and Incident Response:
- Establish a crisis management framework and incident response procedures to effectively manage and respond to emergencies and disruptions
- Coordinate and lead response efforts during crisis situations, collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and relevant authorities
- Communicate timely and accurate updates to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and maintaining the organization's reputation 5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of business continuity plans, procedures and incident reports
- Prepare regular reports on business continuity metrics, testing results and program effectiveness for senior management and regulatory compliance purposes
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and best practices related to business continuity
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, risk management or a related field. A master's degree is preferred
- Proven experience in business continuity planning, crisis management or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of business continuity principles, methodologies and industry standards
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and regulatory requirements related to business continuity
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective strategies
- Strong project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage resources
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Business Continuity Certified Planner (BCCP) are desirable.
