- During your internship, you will develop and design a new measurement setup for SOECs.
- You will experimentally characterize SOECs for stationary hydrogen production using electrochemical measurement techniques (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and current-voltage characteristics).
- Furthermore, you will apply further characterization methods to determine material properties of cell and setup components.
- Last but not least, you will evaluate experimental data and present results in an interdisciplinary team.
- Education: Bachelor studies in the field of Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or comparable with above-average academic performance
- Experience and Knowledge: in the lab, CAD and Python
- Personality and Working Practice: team-minded, flexible, enthusiastic, independent, committed and structured
- Enthusiasm: interest in experimental work
- Languages: very good in German or English

Job Description
A key challenge on the way to achieve climate neutrality is storing the power generated by renewable sources for example in form of hydrogen. Electrolysis mode operation of the solid oxide cell (SOC) as solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) enables direct conversion of electrical energy into chemical energy the highest efficiencies among electrolysis technologies, thus presenting itself as a promising technology for the hydrogen economy of the future. To improve our understanding of occurring processes in SOEC operation, cells are experimentally characterized to parameterize and validate physical models predicting cell performance.
