Since 1502:
Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) offers a wide range of

largest university in Saxony-Anhalt was created in 1817 when the University of Wittenberg (founded in 1502)

merged with Friedrichs University Halle (founded in Today the university has 340 professors and 20,000

students. Research at the university focuses on nano and life sciences, the Enlightenment, society and culture.

At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS),

fill the following position at the earliest opportunity and limited to October 31, 2025:
Scientific employee - Horizon Europe PLANET4B Project

Research and Coordination Associate on Environment and Society (f-m-d)

in fulltime.

Remuneration is applied up to pay group 13 TV-L, depending on the assignment of duties and fulfilment of

personal requirements.


Tasks:


  • Provide research and coordination support to the Horizon Europe PLANET4B project (grant agreement No
that aims to understand how diversity within societies, particularly as reflected in values, norms,

and behaviour, relates to prioritisation of biodiversity, nature, and environment in decision making and how

this can change through various interventions at intrapersonal, interpersonal, and institutional levels

communication, and transformative change

  • Coordinate the research activities and events to deliver project outcomes in close collaboration with the
international PLANET4B Scientific Lead Team, the consortium, and the Advisory Board

  • Draft reports about the progress and impact of the project efficiently and creatively designed for science
- policy-practice and present project results at conferences and other relevant events

  • Contribute to publications arising from the project, including in peerreviewed academic journals

Requirements:


  • A Master's degree in Behavioural and/or Institutional Economics, Resource Management, Political Sciences,
Environmental Sociology, Development Studies, International Relations, International Studies or a related

field. A PhD will be a strong asset but highly qualified applicants without a PhD will also be considered

  • Strong interest in the topics at the intersection of environment and justice on the one hand, and societal
change from individual to institutional levels, on the other hand

  • Research and methodological skills in investigating the topics related to the project (e.g. experiences in
developing, conducting and analysing interviews and/or surveys with various actors, as well as skills in

literature reviews or comparative analyses) are a strong asset. Yet opportunities will be explored in the project

  • Experience in project coordination, particularly in an international and/or transdisciplinary context, is a strong
asset

  • Motivation to work independently and in a team with a high degree of creativity and personal initiative
  • Strong diplomacy and communication skills in English, particularly to maintain relations in the international
consortium. Knowledge of German is not required but an asset
