The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term to 6 Months.

Continued employment is possible.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 7-12 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12.00 € per hour.

Unser Profil:

For decades, the Machine Tool Laboratory WZL at RWTH Aachen University has been synonymous with successful and forward-looking research and innovation in the field of production technology.

In six research areas, both basic research and research projects oriented to the requirements of industry are carried out.

The Department of Factory Planning at the Chair of Production Systems deals with the topics of plant structure planning, assembly planning, digital factory planning and autonomous systems.

Ihr Profil:

Programming experience (e.g. in Python or similar languages)
Ideally knowledge in Machine Learning like TensorFlow or PyTorch
Ideally knowledge of detection algorithms such as YoLo
Analytical thinking

Ihre Aufgaben:

Initial situation:

As part of the AGASTIK research project, a system for the automatic generation of assembly instructions is to be developed.

The creation of such assembly instructions has so far required significant manual effort, which is to be avoided as far as possible.

For this
purpose, exemplary assembly processes are recorded by cameras and automatically evaluated. This evaluation requires an object
recognition of the used components (e.g. tools, parts), for which a deep neural network is used. A basic model to be trained should recognise common assembly objects. However, assembly components in particular are process-specific and must be retrained before automated recognition.
