_The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences III, Institute of Geosciences and

Geography, Chair of Sedimentary Systems and Resources, invites appplications for the following position,

starting at the next possible date and initially limited to 3 years:
Research Assistant / Postdoc (m-f-d)

as full-time employment.

The salary will be up to pay group 13 TV-L, if the personal requirements and tasks are fulfilled.


Tasks:


  • Working on scientific questions in sedimentology, preferably on clastic coastal systems
  • Organizing and teaching courses in sedimentology, resources and related disciplines
  • Conducting and leading geological excursions and mapping courses
  • Collaboration in the development of a laboratory of sedimentary petrography
  • Cosupervision of BSc and MSc students in the research group
  • Presentation of research results at national and international conferences
  • Publication of research results in peerreviewed international scientific journals
  • Participation in the realization, implementation and administration of research projects
  • Participation in academic selfadministration and laboratory maintenance
The possibility of further scientific qualification is given.


Requirements:


  • Completed university degree (Diploma or MSc) in geology or related disciplines
  • Completed doctorate in geology or related disciplines
  • Indepth knowledge of sedimentary systems, clastic sedimentology or related disciplines
  • Knowledge of carbonate sedimentology and/or evaporites as well as sedimentary deposits and nearsurface
raw materials is desirable

  • Experience in teaching geology and organizing field trips would be desirable
  • Knowledge in one of the following areas: drone data acquisition, photogrammetry, 3D outcrop modeling, GIS,
remote sensing, sedimentary petrography, grain-size analysis, experimental studies, or similar

  • Driving license class B is required
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, German is a plus
  • Very good cooperation and teamwork skills are required
