    CAT Catalytic Center is a collaborative research facility of RWTH Aachen University and Covestro AG, where an international and interdisciplinary team of around 30 dedicated researchers is working in a state-of-the-art 400+ m2 research facility. At CAT Catalytic Center, researchers work closely together with academia and industry to find innovative solutions and develop molecules for new products. This cooperative research provides both partners an ideal forum for generating ideas, being part of joint development, and turning them into future applications. Applied catalytic processes and the development of polymers that are safe and sustainable by design are the key research topics at CAT Catalytic Center to drive a circular economy of plastics.


    Tasks
    • We encourage highly motivated scientists to consider the open position.
    • You will conduct cutting-edge research in the field of the circular economy of plastics in close cooperation with academia and industry.
    • You will be part of an international and interdisciplinary research team.
    • You will showcase your results in scientific publications, conferences, and invention disclosures.
    • You will engage in teaching by supervising research internships, bachelor, and master theses.
    • With your expertise, you will contribute to the development of new processes and polymers that support the transition to a circular economy of plastics.

    Profile
    • PhD degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
    • Highly motivated, open-minded, and solution-oriented organic, catalytic, or polymer chemist.
    • General experience in the synthesis and analysis of organic compounds.
    • Initial experience in chemical process development and hands-on experience with pressurized reactor systems and heterogeneously catalyzed reactions are advantageous.
    • Structured way of working, good communication skills, and a team player attitude.
    • Fluent in written and spoken English.

    What We Offer

    The selected candidate will be hired under a regular employment contract.
    The position is available for an immediate start and is offered for a fixed term of 1 year.
    The fixed-term employment is possible as it aligns with one of the fixed-term options of the German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz).
    This is a full-time role.
    The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
    The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
