The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

The school offers master's programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research.

**Student Research Assistant (gn)

  • ARM Project**in parttime (10 hour/week); to take part in the research project "The Long Arm of Authoritarian States," funded under the EU Horizon program 2020. Authoritarian states try to control information beyond their borders. For this project we investigate China's attempts to control information inside the European Union, and compare tactics, techniques, and procedures with Russia, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. Under the supervision of principal investigator Daniela Stockmann, the project brings together a team of one postdoctoral fellow and two PhD research assistants.

Your tasks:

  • Research and translations of Chinese documents related to international initiatives
  • Research activities on the digitally mediatised bottomup influence of China and Chinese institutions and initiatives in Berlin and Europe
  • General administrative and research activities

Your profile:

  • Enrolled student at a German university and studying a relevant field
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work independently
