Research Specialist A

Job Description Summary


This Research Specialist A/B will perform experiments to characterize antibody responses elicited by SARS-CoV-2 and influenza virus infections and vaccinations.

The position involves evaluating new cutting edge vaccines.

The Research Specialist A/B will produce recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies for serological studies, and will perform experiments that involve ELISAs and neutralization assays to quantify different types of antibodies.

The Research Specialist A/B will also assists in other laboratory tasks such as ordering reagents and maintaining equipment. The Research Specialist A/B must be able to work independently and also in a team environment.


Job Description:

Job Responsibilities

  • Help in the general running of the lab, including ordering reagents, equipment, and supplies and maintaining lab organization
  • Maintain equipment and supplies
  • Recombinant protein and monoclonal antibody productions
  • Serological studies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Research Specialist B

  • In addition to the Research Specialist A responsibilities, the Research Specialist B will work independently to design experiments.

Qualifications:
Research Specialist A

Bachelor's Degree and 0-1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to learn new techniques is required.

Research Specialist B

Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and desire to learn new techniques is required.

Position is contingent upon funding.


The job pay range encompasses the full range of employees from new hires to the salaries of Penn employees with many years of experience and seniority and is not a precise indicator of salaries of new hires when looking at the top end.
