of Molecular Epidemiology**commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship is located at the Institute of Medical Data Processing, Biometrics and Epidemiology (IBE), Chair of Epidemiology.

It aims to advance Molecular Epidemiology conceptually, methodologically, and practically


The objectives include:


Study design and analysis of genetic and molecular information from the fields of epigenetics, proteomics, metabolomics or other approaches in epidemiological studies with different designs, such as cohort, case-control, panel studies, registries and others.

Further development of approaches to causal models and use of AI methods in molecular epidemiology.

Develop and extend concepts on molecular signatures in epidemiological studies to characterize the exsome and predict diseases, trajectories, and survival.

Application of new concepts in the complex, dynamic situation of mid-term and long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

In teaching, the professorship is to represent and further develop Molecular Epidemiology in the Master's programs in Public Health and Epidemiology as well as in the Medical Curriculum MeCuM.

LMU Munich offers an excellent interdisciplinary research environment at the Munich site.

The Professorship of Molecular Epidemiology will contribute to the further development of the Pettenkofer School of Public Health with activities in research and teaching as well as with references to policy and practice.

The work will be carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Epidemiology at Helmholtz Munich.
