Technical Assistant:

- part-time (90 %)

  • The Baumann group studies telomeres, genome stability, and aging and is part of the Faculty of Biology at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

Your tasks:

- independent planning and execution of biochemical and molecular biological experiments and their quantitative analysis
- protein biochemical work: preparation of protein lysates from human and yeast cells; purification of recombinant proteins, gel and western blot analyses.
- implementation and support of other laboratory activities in the context of diverse research projects
- organization of the research laboratory as well as maintenance of the operation
- coordination of maintenance and inspection appointments
- carrying out simple maintenance and cleaning of technical equipment


Your profile:

- completed training as a state-certified biological technical assistant (BTA) or laboratory technician with equivalent skills and experience
- very good practical and theoretical knowledge in biochemistry and molecular biology
- knowledge of handling hazardous and toxic substances; especially radioactive substances (P32)
- good knowledge of the English language written and spoken
- good knowledge of MS-Office, Illustrator, Acrobat or equivalent programs)
- knowledge in the proper operation of equipment such as; large capacity automatic cleaning machines, autoclaves, mediaclave, etc.
- instruction as "Electrotechnically Instructed Person" (EuP) desirable
- knowledge of cleaning, hygiene and understanding of cleanliness
- highest reliability, concentration and experimental skills
