ConFoBi (Conservation of Forest Biodiversity in Multiple-Use Landscapes of Central Europe) is a is a large research and training network based at the University of Freiburg and funded by the German Science Foundation.

As part of this project you will be researching the historical forest changes in the Black Forest, using historical spy satellite imagery as a basis for analyses.

You will wok with closely together with Dr. Catalina Munteanu and Xiang Liu, to map historical forest cover in the Soutern Black Forest, Germany.

In the process, you have the unique chance to interact with a group of over 20PhD and MSc students on forest biodiversity topics.

What we are looking for:

- a BSc degree in geography, remote sensing or environmental sciences
- basic experience with GIS software (ideally ArcGIS, QGIS)
- basic understanding of remote sensing concepts

English fluency
Willingness to explore new methodological approaches
