The Position:

By establishing close collaborations with business units, you will understand their challenges, extract meaning from data, and uncover valuable insights.

In our ambition to foster data literacy across Boehringer Ingelheim you will contribute to the further growth of our successful Data Science Academy which is an important pillar in our "Winning with People" strategy.

Tasks & responsibilities:


  • Imagine being the driving force behind successful data science projects with special focus on the development of our Data Science Academy. This comprises scouting and generation of relevant content based on latest datarelated trends, establishing modern ways of teaching, and performing training events in an international environment.
  • As part of a crossfunctional IT team you will have the opportunity to collaborate across multiple business units to understand data, IT, and business constraints.
  • Are you a specialist in a particular area of data science? Whether it's machine learning algorithms, data visualization, or statistical analysis, your knowledge will be a valuable asset to our team.
  • As a community builder, you will manage data science communities and foster internal and external partnerships. This will keep you at the forefront of the latest advancements in data science, ensuring that we are always ahead of the curve.
  • And finally, you will act as an innovation driver. Your ideas and initiatives will shape the future of our organization, making a real difference in the way we operate and with the innovative product development you contribute to with your individual talent.

As Senior Data Scientist, you furthermore have the following tasks & responsibilities:

  • You will create an impact by strategically shaping and influencing results in your own organization and beyond.
  • Additionally, you will drive datadriven improvements by identifying opportunities, aligning data science initiatives with organizational goals, and promoting the adoption of datadriven practices.
  • As an outstanding communicator, you will collaborate with management levels in relevant internal stakeholder teams and represent our organization in external engagements.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree in data science, mathematics, physics or (business) informatics
  • Advanced scientific degree desirable, e.g. PhD, MD
  • Few years of working experience in data science and good understanding of key processes in own organization and ability to communicate effectively with specialists in own and business organization
  • Expert in implementing data science solutions with high analytical quality by integrating methods from mathematics, statistics, and probability modeling, using specialized programming languages (Python and/or R), common development tools and respective techniques
  • Leading activities and projects demonstrating solid project/product management skills as well as proven didactic expertise

Additional requirements for Senior Data Scientists:

  • Several years of relevant working experience in the data science domain
  • Experience in developing multidimensional concepts for problem solving and leading complex activities with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Excellent knowledge in using advanced methods in data science: analytical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and statistical methods
  • Ability to understand, challenge and optimize business and IT processes and come up with alternative and innovative solutions
