The Institute of Resource Ecology performs research to protect humans and the environment from hazards caused by pollutants resulting from technical processes that produce energy and raw materials.

The Department of Reactor Safety is looking for a
PhD student (f/m/d) (Subject to project funding approval).


Your tasks:


  • Learning the Monte Carlo Program MCNP
  • Analysis of experiments and comparison with calculations
  • Optimization of Monte Carlo calculations for deep penetrations
  • Preparation of a dissertation

Your profile:


  • University degree in science and technology
  • Very good marks in exams and Master/Diploma thesis
  • Very good knowledge in the field of nuclear engineering
  • Detailed knowledge in reactor safety analysis is advantageous
  • Experience with monte Carlo codes and in the programming
  • Ability to work independently, as a part of a team and in collaboration with other teams
  • Creative thinking
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English (German language is an asset)
