The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

Student Research Assistants - REGULATE (gn)
part-time (8-10 hours per week).


The REGULATE (Recasting the Regulatory State? Comparing the patterns of regulating platform companies across EU cities and sectors) project investigates European sub-national regulation of the platform economy in the transport and housing sectors.

It aims at mapping, comparing and explaining how states and cities regulate platform economy companies and their impact on regulatory standards and enforcement practices.


Your tasks:

  • Assisting Project investigators in analysing and interpreting the data and developing comparative study for the following research stage.
  • Drafting a short project report summarising findings from data collection
  • Assisting Project investigators with organisation of workshop
  • Preparing background information for qualitative case studies and interviews.
  • Creating stakeholder maps and collecting information about potential interviewees. Conducting interviews following questionnaire or assisting during interviews.
  • Interview analysis using software.
  • Assisting Project investigators with preparation of scientific reports and publications
  • Occasional coding of 23 cases depending of language skills.

Your profile:

  • We are looking for research assistants that are motivated and able to work independently.
  • Previous knowledge of coding and data management is an advantage but not necessary.
  • We are looking for the following language profiles (combination of several languages is a significant advantage): German, English, Spanish, Portuguese or Nordic languages
  • Additional language competence is an advantage.
