The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

The school offers master's programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research.

Its extensive international network positions it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The school was founded in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major funder. The Hertie School is accredited by the state and the German Science Council.

The Executive Education Unit develops customized training programs for high-profile international delegations and also conducts consulting projects. To support planning and implementation of the
Recharging Advocacy for Rights in Europe (RARE) project, we are looking for a


Student Assistant (gn) - Executive Education
part-time basis (20 hours/week).

You will work in the administration of an international university.

The contract shall commence as soon as possible. The ideal term is 24 months or longer, with a minimum of 10-12 months.


Your tasks:
You will be a part of the RARE project team, that works on creating a strong and lasting network among 25 leading European human rights defenders from renowned civil society organizations in a two-year capacity
- and alliance-building programme. RARE is co-organised by the Hertie School, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights and Oxfam Novib.

  • Your tasks will include coordination between the project partners, regular communication with participants across different EU countries, co
- management of course logistics and events

  • Travel and logistics planning for 10 training events (camps) in different European countries (including onsite management for selected camps)
  • Assisting our finance associate in project finances, including camp budgeting and expense management
  • Research on projectrelated topics, such as human rights, rule of law, civil society, as well as relevant content for the 10 camps (civic space protection, public speaking, narrativebuilding, leadership, networking, policy writing and networking, opensource investigation methods, security of human rights defenders and others)
  • Assistance in the preparation and followup for RARE camps evaluations and project reporting to funders
  • Contact database management
  • Support for other selected Executive Education projects, as well as visits of international highprofile delegations

Your profile:

  • Interest in human rights, rule of law, advocacy and work of civic organisations in the EU
  • Excellent knowledge of English language, both written and spoken. Good knowledge of German language is advantage plus.
  • Careful, structured and independent way of working
  • Organizational strength, communication skills, reliability and flexibility
  • Initial experience in project work, logistics and travel management is an advantage
