Technical Assistent:

- full-time (100 %)

  • Our research group investigates the molecular causes of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia. We combine different methods of cell and molecular biology as well as biochemistry. We mainly use cell cultures (mammalian cell lines) as well as purified proteins and nucleic acids.

Your tasks:


  • The activities associated with the position are broad and based in an international team

The main tasks include:

  • Preparation, performance and evaluation of biochemical and molecular biological work (e.g. protein purification, gel electrophoresis, cloning, immunostaining)
  • Cell culture of mammalian cell lines
  • Biochemical and molecular biology work (e.g. protein purification, gel electrophoresis, cloning, immunostaining)
  • Documentation of work processes, data analysis, preparation of presentations
  • Analysis of sequencing data
  • General laboratory organization (e.g. ordering consumables, purchasing equipment, receiving/shipping reagents)
  • Correspondence with companies
  • Organization of the laboratory database
  • Organization of laboratory rooms and storage
  • Instruction of new employees
  • Participation in teaching, esp. Preparation and supervision of practical courses with students

Your profile:


  • Completed training as a biologicaltechnical assistant (BTA) or comparable qualification
  • Very good knowledge of molecular biology and biotechnology
  • Experience in cell biology, molecular biology or biochemical techniques
  • Previous experience in laboratory organization is an advantage
  • You have a very good command of written and spoken German and English, are generally communicative and enjoy working in a team
- very good computer skills, especially Office (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint

  • Knowledge of general laboratory safety measures and waste disposal
