Scientific Coordinator:

Fulltime (100%)- We are now looking for a scientific coordinator to join the team and manage the daily operation of the network and develop it to an internationally visible hub for training a new generation of polymer life scientists


Your tasks:


  • Your two major tasks are
-
i) to perform research and graduate training at the interface of biology and polymer science and
-
ii) take the lead in securing third party funding to continue the success of the network beyond the first funding period. Your research will create new pathways on how to integrate life science and polymer concepts in a synergistic fashion. You will work closely with the spokesperson and vice spokesperson to achieve your goals, disseminate your results to specialized and general audiences and also be responsible for generation of scientific reports as well as daily operation of the network.

In addition, you will develop the content for graduate training in liaison with the scientific coordinator of the integrated PhD program and have creative ideas to support early career scientists and promote science.

You will also be responsible for the CRC finances, incl. financial reporting, maintaining budget databases and reporting, together with the administrative coordinator.


Your profile:


  • You have completed scientific university studies in a field relevant to the CRC, like biochemistry, chemistry, biology, computational biology, physics, mathematics or a related field, preferably with a PhD. English proficiency (written and spoken) at the business level is required. You are selfstructured, have excellent communication skills, are great in a team, work independently and can take responsibility.
Applications from career starters with organizational talent are also welcome.

Prior knowledge and experience in the following areas is advantageous:

  • Science management and project management
  • Applicable procurement policies and regulations, budgetary law, and proper accounting for funds management
  • Website content management (e.g. WordPress), social media interfaces, content creation
  • Standard PC programmes (MS Office, incl. Excel and PowerPoint; image editing software; Adobe Acrobat)
  • Event management and public outreach measures
  • Working in an international academic environment
  • Database management


In addition, very good organisational skills and attention to detail, excellent presentation skills, with the ability to interact with scientists and administrators at all levels are essential.

The position is remunerated according to salary grade

EG 13 TV-L and to be filled as soon as possible with a fixed-term contract until Extension is possible depending on circumstances.
