Your tasks:


  • Scientific management of microscopes and support for scientific projects in the field of light microscopy
  • Conducting independent research in the areas of light microscopy or biophysics
  • Establishment of quantitative methods for studying biopolymers such as FRAP, FLIM, FRET, and FCS, as well as biophysical measurements using optical tweezers and labelfree microscopy methods
  • Initiation and leadership of a course on quantitative analysis methods for biopolymers
  • Participation in research data management projects with a focus on storage, analysis, and archiving of microscopy data
  • Ongoing further education in the latest microscopy techniques

Your profile:


  • In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in 57 of the
- _Hochschulgesetz_ of Rhineland-Palatinate.

  • A successfully completed scientific university degree in life sciences, biophysics, physics, engineering, or other instrumentintensive disciplines
  • Advanced degree (e.g., PhD) in the mentioned fields desirable
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, biophysics, optics, light microscopy techniques including widefield microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, FRAP, FLIM, FRET, FCS, optical tweezers, and labelfree microscopy
  • Scientific curiosity and the ability to approach complex biological problems experimentally
  • Computer skills and experience in programming and image analysis are considered an advantage
  • Physicists with a keen interest in learning cell biology or biochemistry, even without extensive knowledge in these areas, are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Strong selforganization skills
  • High level of teamwork and a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Enjoyment in sharing knowledge and the ability to convey complex concepts in an understandable manner
  • Fluency in English
