A position is immediately available for an advanced scientist in auditory systems neuroscience.

This position represents an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated individual to assume leadership in running and coordinating ongoing projects on identifying the neuronal circuits for auditory processing.

The Research Specialist C will conduct independent research, maintain mouse colonies and provide technical support to several projects using electrophysiological, optogenetic, imaging and behavioral methods in rodents in the

Geffen laboratory

,

The position requires advanced knowledge of neuroscience and biology


Responsibilities include:

ordering and breeding mice; experimental design; behavioral training of rodents; planning and executing complex experiments that include electrophysiological, optogenetic and imaging; genotyping, immunohistochemistry and visualization of brain tissue; data analysis, curation and backup; organization and maintenance of laboratory records and supply organization and ordering.

Ability to keep accurate records and excellent organizational skills are essential. We are looking for a creative, friendly and responsible individual.

Experimental development and troubleshooting will be expected as well as independently planning experiments and supervision of research staff.

Qualifications:


Research Specialist C - Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Must have strong organizational skills, good written and verbal communication skills, be able to learn new techniques and analytical methods, and must be a reliable and enthusiastic team pl
