Job Description

Join our team of passionate researchers and engineers and collaborate with experts in state-of-the-art laboratories.

• During your thesis, you will design and implement an optical transmission setup utilizing two lasers with different wavelengths. Your goal is to contribute to an interdisciplinary project focused on defining the optical characterization of tumour tissues.
• Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing an interface to control the setup and measure the optical characteristics of both healthy and cancerous tissue to establish an optical correlation between them.
• Your tasks will encompass constructing and optimizing the optical setup, creating a Python-based controller interface, and conducting measurements on different tissues.
• In the final stage, you will analyze the data to identify correlations between transmitted light, tissue thickness, and the type of tumor in various tissues.
• This hands-on experience will enhance your skills in optical engineering and programming, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of both engineering and biology.
• You will be supervised by an experienced scientist that will give you the opportunity to learn hands on industrial research in optical technologies.

Qualifications

• Education: Master studies in the field of Experimental Physics, Electronics or comparable
• Experience and Knowledge: profound knowledge in optics, practical experience in programming and familiarity with data correlation processing techniques, good knowledge of LabVIEW is a plus
• Personality and Working Practice: an innovative and curious individual with a hands-on spirit, eager to take on challenges, as a master's student, you should be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Enthusiasm: passion for scientific research and a strong interest in lab work are essential, enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge in biology and cancer research
• Languages: fluent in both written and spoken English, German is a plus
