Duties:


  • You will serve as a Cook at Headquarters, United States European Command (HQ US EUCOM).
  • You will prepare and cook a variety of food items in bulk quantities and individual servings for daily luncheons and special functions.
  • Make menus for daily and special function luncheons hosted by the USEUCOM Commander, Flag and General Officers, Senior Executive Services (SES) or US government equivalents, colonels, GS15/equivalents, O6 selects, senior enlisted leaders.
  • Inspect all meats, vegetables and fruits to assure freshness.
  • Prepare daily paperwork, conduct weekly inventory, and ensure inventory control compliance.
  • Shop for and order food items.
  • Utilize cooking methods, procedures, menus and standard recipes to cook meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, soups, etc.
  • Perform operation, breakdown, and cleaning of food service equipment such as mixers, dicers, grinders, blenders etc.
  • Perform cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas.
  • Must be able to satisfy the requirements of the 26JUL12 DODI V1230, DoD

Civilian Personnel Management System:
Employment in Foreign Areas and Employee Return Rights.


Requirements:


Conditions of Employment:


  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • If selected, the agency will provide information regarding what documentation is needed and how to request any legally required exceptions from this requirement.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Recruitment Incentive or relocation incentive may be offered.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • This is a Career Program (CP) 1
  • Supply Management position.
  • The initial length of this overseas tour is 24 months.

This is a TERM appointment NTE 2 years with the possibility of being extended up to 8 years.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.- Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) COOK~ without more than normal supervision.

I have the ability to perform common food preparation duties. I can shop and order foods; cut, trim, weigh and measure portions of ingredients.

I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure that they are properly performed.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires light to moderate physical effort. Subject to continuous standing and frequent stooping, reaching and bending.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a kitchen area and incumbent is exposed to heat, steam, fumes and odors form cooking. Possible danger of slipping on wet floors also exists. Subject to cuts from knives and burns from stoves, hot grease etc.


Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
