Duties:


  • Prepares physical security plans for all activities conducted at JMSC.
  • Provides access management and physical security for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
  • Coordinates communication with command leadership and host nation authorities to develop directives that reflect current threat assessments.
  • Plans, develops, administers, and/or oversees the Information Security Program in accordance with Army and NATO Regulations and other applicable directives.
  • Conducts announced and unannounced security inspections to ensure compliance with applicable security regulations and policies.
  • Responsible for the overall administration and control of the JMSC Personnel Security Program.
  • Advise leadership on the interpretation of policy to ensure adherence on procedural requirements for processing security clearances.
  • Serves as the JMSC Special Security Representative (SSR) under the general guidance of the JMSC Special Security Officer (SSO) and the Chief of the Intelligence and Security Branch.
  • Researches regulations regarding the control and dissemination of Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • Provides access management to assigned Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required 10% or less of the time.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) certification within their first two years of employment.
  • Subsequent SPeD certifications are required with the requirement to complete one per year each consecutive year thereafter in the order mandated by the SPeD certification sequence.

Specialized experience is defined as experience in two or more security disciplines:

Information Security, physical Security and/or Personnel Security; also includes experience with providing access control to Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.

Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
