The job


We are looking for a highly motivated scientist (f/m/x) in social sciences to work in our third party funded EU Horizon 2020 project NEXOGENESIS.

UFZ coleads the Work package on stakeholder cocreation and is responsible for conceptualising the water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus governance assessment in five transboundary river basins.

We look for an experienced researcher with social skills able to manage interdisciplinary research within the consortium and the case studies; and at the same time able to create research products for sustainable, effective and legitimate KI-based decision making.

Your tasks

  • Assistance in leading the Work Package on Co-Creation and Stakeholder Engagement in Water-EnergyFood-Ecosystems Nexus governance
  • Preparing the Roadmap for WEFE Nexus Governance (our task 1.5, due in August 2025)
  • Analysing qualitative interviews conducted, mainly from our main case studies Danube-Jiu (Romania) and Inkomathi-Usuthu (South Africa)
- three Highlevel English journal publication on the basis of this analysis together with the work package team (University of Tour France, IHE Delft, KWR Utrecht)

  • Support of the project ́s internal cocreation process (task 1.3) and of the work package responsible for the case study management (WP5)
  • Assisting in designing the fourth, fifth and sixth round of workshops in the five case studies
  • Integration of nexus governance assessment concepts into social science water research at UFZ.

Profile:


  • Master degree in social sciences
  • Experience in qualitative methodology
  • Perfect written English obligatory
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to regularly and constructively coordinate with project partners
